Omana Regional Park has a big advantage for travellers without an own car : you can reach it by public transport from Britomart to Maraetavi Dr and then there is "only" a 16 minutes walk to Omana Regional Park. And you have to use 3 different buslines. A good service, isn´t it?
Omana Regional Park is an alternative to Auckland´s city beach, Mission Bay.
Do not expect shops, but there is a nice area for camping, picnicing and relaxing.
A half an hour trail leads you around the park, starting from the beach to cliffs, through farmland and forest. The trail also leads you to an organic toilet :)
You can enjoy different views of the inner Hauraki Gulf.
The water is very flat, that means safe even for children. Families and groups of different nationality have a picnic there. They bring their traditional food with them, some also grill or cook at the beach.
